» Goodbye to Allison and Dr. Drani

Posted on Wed Feb 21st, 2018 @ 11:21pm by Lieutenant Shannon MacKennon in General News

It is with regret that we must say goodbye to Allison, a charter-member of the crew. The demands of real life and her own sim make it difficult for her to stay active on Hermes. Thanks for the months of participation, Allison. We wish you well with both life and your own sim!

Raymond is coming on board as a fighter pilot under Major Cassidy. He brings a lot of experience to our ship, and you should see him appear shortly. Please JP with him, introducing him to places around the ship, and helping him get his feet wet on Hermes - and maybe A'Karri, too!

Dear Crew,

On the one hand, it's wonderful to know that Raymond is moving on to interesting things. He's accepted the call to be the Task Force Area 51 TGCO. Because of this, he'll be leaving our sim, so that he has time to devote to that and his own sim, both. So, on the other hand, we're sad to lose our XO and his excellent character, the annoying Rhett Beaumont. Thank you for your service on Hermes.

We wish you the best, Raymond, and hope the TGCO position is very rewarding to you! God go with you wherever you fly.

» Sim Awards

Posted on Mon Feb 12th, 2018 @ 7:05am by Lieutenant Shannon MacKennon in General News

Theta Fleet Awards are not out yet, but we wanted to take this moment to recognize the great jobs that all the players are doing, and make some sim-only awards for January. These will go in your personnel files, but not on the main page of the sim. Thank all of you for all you do!

Character Development Ribbon: Awarded to an individual who develops his or her character in a believable manner over a series of posts.

Jenny Linsky for Lieutenant Cruulene Naidroden's very believable paranoia posts
Raymond for Ensign Rhett Beaumont - the one we all love to hate
Joe for Lieutenant Stephen Kelly's smooth and through integration into the science department.

Enigma Ribbon of Excellence: Awarded to the player who helps develop plot twists.

Allison for Lieutenant Victoria Drani's Trill symbiote conundrum

Friendship Ribbon: Awarded to an individual who develops a convincing and meaningful friendship with another character or NPC.

Chantal for Lieutenant Damion Ildaran's growing friendship with the Holographic Counselor, Elizabeth Anderson.

NPC Ribbon: Awarded for the detailed creation and use of Non-Player Characters.

James for developing so many NPCs who fill in so many gaps so well.

Nemesis Award: Awarded to a player who develops and plays a convincing adversary.

Lily for Lieutenant Eric Jackson's adversarial role with the ChEng, and for bringing it around to grudging respect.

Distinguished Newcomer Award: For jumping into the middle of things with me in our new mission, this award goes to Brandon and his character Rico Shepard.

I'll get those posted in the next couple of days. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done!

» Shifting Missions

Posted on Thu Feb 1st, 2018 @ 9:11pm by Lieutenant Shannon MacKennon in General News

Hello, Everyone!

We are all involved in posts, I think. Our mission is going to close and reopen with A'Karri. Things will proceed from there as we've previously discussed and outlined.

If you have posts which *must* be in this first mission, then try to have them finished by Saturday. If they can carry over to the new mission, things that would be going on - or could be going on - anytime, then simply remember to switch them to the new mission - there will be a day's overlap (Sunday into Monday morning US EST) before the old mission is closed out.

We did an amazing job last month, all things considered, and still had a great pace count - more than 3 posts per player, with all the JPs we did. I don't know what that means in terms of awards, but I think it's good news all by itself!

Ranulf felt a bit dumb, but that changed nothing. The cover over his weapons bay had slipped and sliced into his forearm. It was not really a life threatening injury, but the darn thing kept leaking. He knew he needed to get the wound disinfected and sealed. He did mot…

Commander Hunt entered the meeting room and, with a quick glance, determined that everyone he needed was seated. "Sorry for being a bit late," he apologized, but supplied no other information. The fact that his stomach was trying to effect a mutiny on the rest of his body didn't have…

Mission: Justice For All
Posted on Mon Feb 19th, 2018 @ 4:18am by Lieutenant Damion Ildaran & Lieutenant Cruulene Naidroden

Damion Ildaran had no idea what the words were to the song he was humming--which is why he was humming it. But it was an old French drinking song from Earth, and since he was (still) slightly tipsy from the Marsala wine he'd drunk earlier in the evening, he figured…
